Discography

Here’s a list of a few of my most recent sideman recordings. There’s not nearly enough space to show them all, so I narrowed it down to some of my favorites:

Kevin Harris Project | Museum Vol. I

KHP Muvseevum

Kevin Harris’ most recent recording, featuring great musicians from New York and Boston. We recently had a couple of very successful album release shows at the Panama Jazz Festival and at Boston’s Regattabar Jazz Club, the latter featuring the fantastic Greg Osby – alto saxophone.

Jason Palmer – trumpet
Rick DiMuzio – tenor sax
Kevin Harris – piano
Richie Barshay – drums
Steve Langone – drums
KE – bass

Daniel Rosenthal | Lines

A beautiful album by my good friend Dan Rosenthal, trumpet player, composer and current member of Boston’s esteemed Either/Orchestra. This album has been getting some good press lately.

Daniel Rosenthal – trumpet
Rick Stone – alto sax
Wes Corbett – banjo
Austin McMahon – drums
KE – bass

Carmen Staaf Trio | Eye to Eye

A mostly-live album by a trio that has been performing together for years, including two of my favorite musicians and friends. This album was recorded and released shortly after Carmen’s winning of the 2009 Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition. Featuring Carmen Staaf (piano) and Austin McMahon (drums).

Austin McMahon | Many Muses, Vol. 2

The second recording as a leader by drummer/composer Austin McMahon, this disc continues the narrative begun on Austin’s first CD, ‘Many Muses’. Austin won a 2009 Independent Music Award for Best Jazz Song for his composition ‘Platone’ from the first album. Very honest music featuring an accomplished band with lots of collective music-making experience.

Austin McMahon – drums, percussion, melodica
Carmen Staaf – piano
Alec Spiegelman – clarinet, flute, bass clarinet
KE – bass

Quartet of Happiness | The Monster Returns!

The second CD by the Boston-based Quartet of Happiness, featuring the return of the Monster! Pieces include an interactive cell phone game, jazz reality television program, and an account of the history of music as only the Quartet of Happiness can do it. Not to mention, cover artwork and album design courtesy of yours truly.

Kelly Roberge – tenor sax
Rick Stone – alto sax
Austin McMahon – drums
KE – bass

Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra | Muse (Ilham)

Ayn is a good buddy of mine from Boston days (as well as a formidable composer), and her band on this record includes three or four entire groups of which I am or have been a member. We’re all REALLY good friends. Featuring the inestimable George Garzone on saxophones, among many other musicians of the highest caliber.

Plamen Karadonev | Crossing Lines

This is a really great record by phenominal pianist, accordionist and composer Plamen Karadonev. He is an accomplished musician with deep roots in jazz and the traditional music of his native Bulgaria. Featuring two luminaries of the jazz world, George Garzone and Hal Crook.

Peter Kenagy | Coolidge

A great quartet record by Boston-based trumpeter and composer Peter Kenagy, paying homage to some of the great leaders of America’s past.

Peter Kenagy – trumpet & flügelhorn
Carmen Staaf -piano
Austin McMahon – drums
KE – bass
